Custodian I (Part-time) (One Year Only)

Major Duties/Essential Functions

• Performs repetitive, heavy, manual work requiring efficient performance of basic building cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Mops wet and dry floors.
• Strips wax from floors, rewaxes, and operates buffing machine.
• Washes windows, fixtures, floors, and walls.
• Dusts furniture, lockers, cabinets, walls, window sills, radiators, and other furnishings.
• Empties trash and recycling receptacles.
• Checks all door locks and window latches in securing the building after cleaning.
• Raises and lowers the flag.
• Makes minor repairs to buildings, building equipment, and furniture.
• Delivers packages and messages.
• Replaces light bulbs.
• Moves and transports furniture, equipment, boxed textbooks, and other supplies, manually or with mechanical assistance.
• Maintains outside of the building by removing snow and ice, mowing the lawn, maintaining shrubbery, picking up paper and debris, and removing and emptying containers of standing water.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

• This job requires strength, agility, dexterity, and visual acuity to perform all tasks.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee must adhere to all site safety regulations and may be required to regularly stand, sit, walk, bend, climb ladders, and/or kneel.
• There may be exposure to extreme heat and cold, outdoor environments, heavy equipment, moving machinery, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noises.
• This job requires lifting up to 25 lbs., periodically lifting/moving up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lifting/moving up to 100 lbs. alone or with assistance.
