Custodian I - 1st Shift 50% Main Hospital
First-shift custodian position providing a safe, clean, and healthy environment for patients, guests, visitors, and staff at The University of Iowa Health Care.
Responsibilities
- General cleaning
- Trash removal
- Stock supplies for cart and custodial area
- Clean and disinfect restrooms / refill restroom supplies
- Dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and damp mopping hard surface floors
- Carpet cleaning
- Unit/bed making
- Wall & ceiling washing
- Furniture moves and room setups
- Use various types of custodial equipment in performance of duties
- Other tasks and duties as assigned
Position may have Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Risk. This position is performed fully on campus.

Schedule
Part-time, alternating weekly schedule:
- Week 1: Tuesday 8:00am - 4:30pm, Wednesday 8:00am - 12:00pm, Saturday 7:00am - 3:30pm
- Week 2: Sunday 7:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday 8:00am - 12:00pm, Thursday 8:00am - 4:30pm
Pay
$17.66/hour

- Ability to read, write, and follow directions
Qualifications
- Previous cleaning experience (desirable)
- Experience working in a healthcare setting and working with the public (desirable)
- Experience using cleaning equipment (desirable)
