Custodian Full-Time

About the role

Location: Spokane, Washington (Federal Building and U.S. Post Office). Type: Non‑Exempt, Full‑time. Tessera is a national non‑profit government contractor dedicated to creating opportunities for people with disabilities and veterans. Tessera is seeking a hard‑working and motivated Custodian with a positive/can‑do attitude.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, Day Shift, 6:30 am – 3:00 pm.

Pay

$18.11 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Follow industrial safety guidelines, apply safety trainings, and promote a safe workplace culture.
• Communicate courteously and professionally with customers.
• Clean and sanitize restroom facilities, replenish supplies per contract standards; follow cross‑contamination procedures.
• Sweep, wet/dry mop, vacuum, and dust offices, halls, high‑traffic areas, door entries, stairwells, building entrances/exits per contract requirements.
• Collect and remove trash and recyclables from lunchrooms, coffee areas, restrooms, shower/locker areas, office spaces per contract.
• Restock supplies daily.
• Clean showers: clean stalls, damp wipe for dust, restock supplies, mop floors following cross‑contamination procedures.
• Maintain janitor lockers (J‑lockers): practice good housekeeping per EM 385‑1‑1, clean and organize daily, clean and rinse equipment before storage.
• Operate wet/dry vacuum for each area per schedule.
• Lock doors after cleaning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 0–3 years of previous custodian or janitorial experience preferred; combination of experience and education considered.

Requirements

• Valid state enhanced driver’s license preferred; must be able to obtain and maintain coverage under Tessera’s insurance.
• Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID‑compliant driver's license or acceptable alternative (U.S. passport, military ID, Enhanced State ID Card) per the REAL ID Act.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
• Background check and E‑Verify will be conducted.
• Physical requirements: ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds; reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours; may need to climb in/out of vehicle, go
