Custodian - Full Time

About the Role

A custodian responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of district facilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning of floors, restrooms, windows, furniture, and equipment according to schedule.
• Keep school grounds, sidewalks, parking lots, and play areas neat and clean, adhering to trash disposal laws.
• Assist with setup for meals and special events, and move furniture or equipment as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and regulate climate controls to ensure safe and comfortable environments.
• Inspect equipment for safety, operate cleaning tools, and handle supplies properly.
• Follow safety protocols, assist with building opening/closing, and report unsafe conditions or major repairs to supervisors.

Requirements

• Ability to read and understand cleaning, maintenance, and safety instructions.
• Knowledge of minor repair techniques, equipment operation, and proper handling of cleaning supplies.
• Physical ability to lift heavy objects (45+ pounds), perform manual tasks, and work in varied environments.
• Flexibility to work outside or inside, often in extreme temperatures and conditions.
• Capable of maintaining emotional control under stress and adhering to safety procedures.

Tools & Environment

Uses buffers, vacuums, hand tools, and lawn equipment; works in indoor and outdoor settings, often on slippery or uneven surfaces, with exposure to dust, chemicals, and extreme temperatures.
