Custodian & Driver

About the role

The Maintenance, Janitorial, & Driver position supports the Corps by ensuring clean, safe, and functional facilities and vehicles, assisting with transportation and grounds upkeep, and aligning with the Salvation Army’s mission to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain all areas of the Corps: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, removing trash, dusting, cleaning windows.
• Clean and maintain the garage (interior and exterior).
• Ensure all Salvation Army vehicles are clean and fueled.
• Report issues and periodic maintenance needs.
• Perform daily walk‑throughs to identify items needing attention, cleaning, or repair; notify Corps Officers and perform repairs when capable.
• Drive for various errands and daily operational needs.
• Assist with seasonal driving needs for programs.
• Maintain grounds: grass areas, landscaping, parking lot.
• Maintain, monitor, and order janitorial supplies as needed.
• Supervise volunteers and community service workers when required.
• Perform any other duties deemed necessary by the Corps Officers.

Requirements

• Current driver’s license.
• Basic knowledge of repairs, safe cleaning, and building safety.
• Ability to comply with a structured schedule.
• Willingness to work in a fast‑paced, team atmosphere.
• Flexibility, patience, and compassion for people.
