About the Role

Morning shift available: 4am to 8am at $16 to $17/hour. Under the direction of the Facilities Director and the Head Custodian, the Custodian will perform custodial services for all facilities associated with the YMCA.

Responsibilities

• Opening and closing of the facility when required.
• Ability to work independently without supervision.
• Perform routine building cleaning tasks such as dusting, window washing, emptying trash, and keeping the grounds free of debris.
• Perform general floor care and cleaning, including vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping.
• Perform heavy-duty floor care such as scrubbing, stripping, or waxing, and safely operate cleaning equipment.
• Keep soap and paper dispensers stocked.
• Set up, tear down, and clean up after scheduled events such as swim meets, tournaments, classes, and parties.
• Clean restrooms and locker rooms, including showers.
• Clean regularly assigned areas as well as other areas as needed.
• Snow removal as needed.
• Attend required meetings, complete required training, and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to operate a computer.

• Regularly required to communicate with other staff.
• Must be able to move about the building and grounds throughout the day.
• Stamina to operate a vacuum, mop, broom, and other cleaning tasks throughout the entire work shift.
• Must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds.
• Specific visual acuity to include the ability to distinguish colors and variations in cleanliness, interpret settings on cleaning equipment, and recognize safety hazards from a distance.

Work Environment

The work environment is both indoors and outdoors.

• When indoors, the environment is temperature-controlled with normal to moderate noise levels.
• When working outside, the environment is subject to weather extremes, moderate noise, mosquitoes, and other insects.

Pay

$16 to $17 per hour.

Schedule

4:00 AM to 8:00 AM.
