Custodian

Touro University Nevada (TUN) is a non-profit medical, health sciences, and education graduate university in Henderson, Nevada—approximately twenty-five minutes from the Las Vegas strip—focused on positively impacting the community through healthcare and education.

About the role

The Custodian will oversee daily custodial activities at TUN and report to the Custodial Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Performs general, routine custodial duties to ensure the campus meets TUN’s high cleaning standards, including dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, restocking paper and soap supplies, and checking supply levels.
• Performs routine maintenance on custodial equipment and supplies.
• Empties trash receptacles and disposes of trash into dumpsters.
• Reports needs and concerns to the Custodial Supervisor, which may include submitting or recommending work orders.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Adheres to safe working practices and safety programs.
• Assists in on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures.
• Performs cleaning functions specific to assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements.
• May provide vendors with access to areas for cleaning and answer basic questions.
• Basic understanding of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Assists with event setups and other duties as directed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2 years of custodial experience.
• Possession of a valid Nevada driver’s license.
• Ability and clearance to drive company vehicles.
• Ability to work varied shifts.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
• Good customer service skills with a desire to exceed customer expectations.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Skills

• Ability to use and experience with auto scrubbers, floor machines (buffers, KyVacs, etc.), and carpet machines.
• Knowledge of custodial-related chemicals and supplies.
• Ability to climb ladders up to 8 ft. and feel comfortable with heights.
• Ability to safely lift up to 30 lbs. regularly.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time, bend, stoop, crouch, push, pull, and reach above shoulders.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs.
