About the role

The Oregon Military Department is a state agency that supports the Oregon National Guard. You are NOT required to be a member of the Oregon National Guard to apply for this position. The Oregon Military Department is recruiting for a Custodian.

Responsibilities

  • Sanitize and clean all buildings and facilities, picking up trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, or using industrial cleaning equipment to clean floors, cleaning and stocking bathrooms, making sure buildings are secure, cleaning windows, and minor building maintenance and repairs in support of OMD Facilities.
  • Regularly exposed to hazardous materials i.e. chemicals for cleaning which include detergents, disinfectants and possible unsanitary working conditions. Use pesticides for rodents.
  • Use pesticides for rodents.
  • Must be able to work from stepladders, portable and mobile man lifts.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must be able to work on ladders, stand, bend to make beds and clean rooms for up to 6 hours a day.
  • Follows all safety standards, policies and procedures. Must have knowledge to know when, where and how to properly wear and maintain personal protective equipment and comply with all safety practices and requirements at all times.
  • Structure work and other activities in the unit to promote a diverse workforce and ensure discrimination, harassment and hostility free workplace.
  • This position works swing shift (2pm - 10:30pm).

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • AND- 1 year of custodial/janitorial experience that includes proper use of tools, machinery and chemicals used for the job.

Qualifications

  • Basic Computer Skills Are Essential
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • This position requires regular travel to sites throughout the region.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must have and maintain a favorable Criminal background History check and be able to obtain and maintain a favorable Department of Defense National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Suitability Determination.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively.
  • Must be able to work on ladders, stand, bend to make beds and clean rooms for up to 6 hours a day.
  • Must follow all safety standards, policies and procedures.
  • Must have knowledge to know when, where and how to properly wear and maintain personal protective equipment and comply with all safety practices and requirements at all times.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function required to meet the demands of this job and to provide necessary services.
