Brief Description

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment within assigned facilities. This role includes routine cleaning, minor maintenance tasks, and ensuring sanitation standards are consistently met.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, break areas, offices, hallways, and other designated spaces.
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.
  • Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste properly.
  • Dust and wipe down surfaces, furniture, and fixtures.
  • Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
  • Clean windows, glass, and mirrors.
  • Report maintenance issues (e.g., leaks, damages, safety hazards).
  • Perform minor repairs (e.g., changing light bulbs) as needed.
  • Maintain cleaning equipment and ensure proper use of chemicals.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines and company policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Attention to detail and strong work ethic.
  • Time management and ability to work independently.
  • Physical stamina (able to stand, bend, lift, and walk for extended periods).
  • Reliable and dependable.

Education and Experience

  • A high school education or equivalent required.
  • Previous janitorial or custodial experience is a plus.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and tools.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling procedures.

Working Conditions

  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and varying temperatures.
  • Physical labor including lifting (typically up to 25-50 lbs.).
