About the role

Provides routine indoor and outdoor custodial maintenance services for various assigned municipal buildings and grounds.

Responsibilities

  • Performs general custodial maintenance of municipal buildings including wall, ceiling, and window washing, upholstery cleaning, dusting, and painting.
  • Cleans and maintains floors including carpeting, tile, and concrete.
  • Cleans restrooms.
  • Removes trash and recyclables.
  • Maintains and replenishes cleaning and related supplies and equipment.
  • Assists maintenance supervisor and maintenance technician as needed.
  • Moves furniture and sets up meeting rooms.
  • Performs minor plumbing tasks as required.
  • Removes snow and salts walkways.
  • Replaces light bulbs when needed.
  • Performs other duties as necessary to maintain a properly presentable facility.

Qualifications

  • Sufficient strength and dexterity to operate power cleaning equipment safely.
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to bend and stoop frequently.
  • Ability to frequently work on ladders at various heights.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including through email.
  • Ability to work with computer/tablet-based work request system.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and ability to work safely and take precautions.
