Custodian

Responsibilities

• Cleans, sanitizes and deodorizes restroom facilities and fixtures including sinks, urinals and toilets;
• Maintains fixtures and replenishes supplies in restrooms;
• Sweeps, vacuums, mops, strips, and polishes floors using a variety of chemicals, cleansers and equipment;
• Vacuums and shampoos carpeting and upholstered furniture;
• Dusts and polishes furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment;
• Washes windows, mirrors, walls and ceilings;
• Empties and cleans ashtrays and trash receptacles.

Requirements

• Moves and arranges furniture and equipment, and sets-up rooms for meetings and special functions;
• Replaces light bulbs and fluorescent tubes in City facilities and outside entryways;
• Ensures facility security after working hours;
• Maintains custodial equipment in proper working condition;
• Ensures compliance with appropriate safety policies and procedures;
• Complies with the proper use of chemicals and cleaning agents.

Qualifications

• Six (6) months full-time custodial work involving the use of various cleaning agents and equipment preferred.
• Must be able to work 5:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Monday through Friday.
