Custodian - Alfred Elementary School - 2nd Shift

Cleanliness and Maintenance

Maintains the overall cleanliness of the school or facility, including all cleaning and sanitizing, minor repairs and maintenance.

Performance Responsibilities

• Cleans assigned areas of the facility, including classrooms, hallways, rest rooms, and common areas.
• (See attached: Cleaning Procedures)
• Performs general maintenance tasks related to the upkeep and operation of the facility.
• Serves as a point of contact for building maintenance concerns.
• Assists with snow removal during winter months.
• Performs total cleaning and general maintenance during the summer months.
• Assists with special events as needed.

Qualifications

• Desired: High School education or equivalent.
• Ability to clean equipment and machines.
• Knowledge of use and handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and coworkers.
• Maintain a generally positive attitude.
• Work Year Year Round.

Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.

Physical Demands

• Constant lifting of 5-20 pounds.
• Frequent lifting 20 to 50 pounds.
• Constant walking and standing.
• Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, climbing and kneeling.
• Occasional crawling, sitting, stooping.
• Exposure to cold or warm temperatures for extended periods of time.
