About the role
Responsible for keeping assigned buildings clean, safe, functional, and secure in accordance with prescribed codes and established District Policies and Standards.
Schedule
8 hours/day, 5 days/week, 52 weeks/year (2nd shift).
Responsibilities
- Work off ladders occasionally and scaffolding rarely.
- Lift to waist: 25–30 pounds frequently, 25–40 pounds occasionally.
- Lift waist to shoulders: 17–25 pounds frequently, 17–40 pounds rarely.
- Lift overhead: 10 pounds occasionally.
- Vacuum and extract carpets.
- Read, squat, and bend frequently.
- Dust furniture, buildings, and equipment.
- Sweep, mop, scrub, and wax hard floor surfaces.
- Push and pull: 12.5–25 pounds frequently, 25–30 pounds occasionally.
- Maintain cleanliness of all assigned building areas per work schedule.
- Operate safety-sensitive equipment (lifts & scrubbers).
- Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
- Perform all other duties assigned by Supervisor of Custodial Operations and/or principal/designee.
Requirements
- High school graduate.
- Physically capable of carrying out the essential job functions.
- Competency in spelling, writing, and basic English language skills.
- Skills in maintaining school buildings to meet general health and safety standards.
- Very good work history with good to excellent attendance record in previous assignments.
- Successful job performance as evidenced through past/recent supervisor’s evaluations.
- Ability to work in an economically, culturally, and racially diverse environment.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in quiet or noisy environments), taste, and smell.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust/focus.
- Work environment noise level: usually loud to moderate.
- Mental functions: compare, analyze, communicate orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile, and negotiate.
