Clean and maintain building interiors and surrounding grounds to ensure cleanliness and orderliness. May be required to move furniture and equipment.
Responsibilities
- Sweep, vacuum, dust, mop, wax, and buff floors, hallways, stairs, and building interiors.
- Operate standard cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, buffers, and mops.
- Wash windows, walls, and ceilings; polish brass, displays, equipment, and other objects.
- Dust and polish furniture.
- Clean and maintain sanitary restrooms.
- Gather and transport trash and refuse from assigned areas to appropriate disposal locations.
- Move and rearrange furniture and equipment.
- Remove and install light bulbs.
- Remove weeds and mow lawns (as needed).
- Remove ice and snow from sidewalks, steps, and grounds (as needed).
- Maintain supplies and materials.
Requirements
- Completion of the eighth grade.
- Minimum of six (6) months of custodial or cleaning experience preferred.
- Valid Maryland Noncommercial Class C driver's license (or equivalent) may be required for certain tasks.
- Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and custodial practices.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures related to custodial work.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain standard cleaning tools and equipment.
- Ability to handle cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to interact with diverse constituencies and convey information with tact and diplomacy.
Pay
Salary range: $18.42 – $24.33 per hour.
