Custodial Services Worker

About the role

The Custodial Worker provides services to ensure a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in assigned facilities. Duties include floor maintenance, dusting, trash removal, and snow and ice removal.

Responsibilities

• Meet high standards of cleanliness in offices, meeting rooms, public areas, bathrooms, custodial closets, and other areas within the facilities.
• Perform floor maintenance, dusting, trash removal, and snow and ice removal from entrance ways and sidewalks.
• Report needed equipment and building repair, and any unsafe or unusual situations.
• Care for and handle custodial supplies, equipment, and assigned keys.
• Occasionally assist with the preparation of regularly scheduled events.
• Work during emergency situations, closings, and per supervisor's instructions.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to comprehend and follow instructions, and properly use or learn to use cleaning chemicals and agents, including dilution and dispensing systems.
• Must be able to walk and stand extensively; climb stairs; safely move or handle up to 35 lbs.; bend, stoop, reach (including reaching above the head to dust), push/pull, perform repetitive motion, twist, and shovel snow.
• Must be able to safely and efficiently operate electrically powered and manual cleaning equipment.
• Must be willing and able to learn the use of heavy floor care equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with the public and/or customer service experience.
• Knowledge and experience with various cleaning methods.
• Custodial/cleaning experience in an institutional, or commercial cleaning environment (such as hospitality (hotel/motel), commercial cleaning company, manufacturing, health care facilities, etc.).
• Custodial/cleaning experience working in an educational environment (such as universities/college, school systems, etc.).
• Previous experience operating professional cleaning equipment.

Benefits

This position is designated Emergency Personnel, requiring employees to report to work during emergency situations, closings, and per supervisor's instructions.

Pay

Pay Band 1
Overtime Status: Non-Exempt: Eligible for overtime
Appointment Type: Regular
Salary Information: $33,280
Hours per week: 40

Schedule

Normal work hours are M-F 6am - 2:30pm, but work hours may vary to meet management and customer needs.
