About the role

The Curriculum Specialist, focusing on Literacy and Math, will work in our Northeast territory covering Pittsburgh, PA. This role partners with Curriculum Specialist Managers and Account Managers to serve as a content specialist supporting the sales process—from prospecting to close—for Savvas Learning Company products, services, and solutions. The specialist will develop and maintain relationships with school, state, regional, or district decision-makers, sharing expertise in company offerings, pedagogy, and the competitive environment. This position requires attending on-site customer meetings in Pittsburgh, and candidates must reside within Pennsylvania or provide relocation plans in their cover letter.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to achieving revenue targets as part of the assigned sales region team.
  • Deliver winning presentations across the sales cycle, including:
    • Exhibits and conferences
    • Pre-work and issue-setting workshops
    • Meetings and campaigns
    • Pilots
    • Sales presentations
    • Program activation
  • Develop relationships with key K-12 decision-makers within the market segment.
  • Provide customer feedback to sales, product, and marketing teams.
  • Maintain content-level expertise through the Savvas certification process and agreed-upon materials.
  • Deliver Product Activation training for new and ongoing customer accounts.
  • Provide professional development or in-service workshops at conferences.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of Savvas Learning Company’s print and digital solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including sales, services, and product management.
  • Maintain positive, ongoing customer relationships during and after the sales cycle to ensure satisfaction.
  • Provide excellent customer service and support or redirect customers to appropriate teams.
  • Travel within the territory as required.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of K-12 education experience, including classroom teaching.
  • BS or BA required; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Specialty training or advanced certification is a plus.
  • Expert knowledge of education theory and market trends in Literacy and Math.
  • Knowledge of the competitive landscape is preferred.
  • Deep passion for K-12 education and learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver winning presentations to large and small groups.
  • Experience networking with district administrators and decision-makers.
  • Previous experience selling and servicing in the education market is desirable.
  • Experience in public speaking and creating engaging presentations for educators, administrators, and committees.
  • Strong technology skills, including proficiency with presentation software and hardware (PC/Mac, whiteboard technology, 1:1 devices) for in-person and virtual presentations.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Monitor and control timekeeping and expenses in accordance with company policies.
  • Collaborate with team members across departments to address customer satisfaction and ensure success.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage self-directed training.
  • Ability to engage in pointed conversations with school districts about Literacy and Math.
  • Understanding of sales campaign strategy, market trends, and the full continuum of Savvas services.

  • Excellent communication skills to relate to all levels of K-12 stakeholders, from superintendents to paraprofessionals.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is desired.

Pay

Hiring range: $80,000 - $90,000. This role may also be eligible for bonus or incentive compensation. Compensation is determined by factors such as skills, experience, budget, and internal equity.
