About the role
The Southeastern Museums Conference seeks a full-time Executive Director to lead its mission of advancing museums in the southeastern United States. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in museum leadership, fundraising, and strategic planning.Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of the organization’s operations, including finance, marketing, and human resources.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to grow the organization’s membership, fundraising efforts, and public engagement initiatives.
- Secure grants and donations from foundations, corporations, and individual donors to support the organization’s programs and projects.
- Manage the board of directors and ensure effective governance.
- Represent the organization at national and regional conferences and events.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in museum studies, business administration, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of experience in museum management or a related field.
- Proven success in fundraising and grant writing.
- Experience with strategic planning and organizational development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage a diverse team and work effectively with volunteers.

- Experience working with museums in the southeastern United States.
- Knowledge of nonprofit management and fundraising best practices.
