Cultural and Food Security Specialist
About the role
This position implements food access initiatives that honor the traditions, religious dietary guidelines, and community heritage of the diverse populations we serve across Northwest Vermont-including New American, refugee, immigrant, and Indigenous communities. The position addresses language barriers, cultural preferences, and systemic obstacles to improve nutrition and food sovereignty. They ensure vulnerable populations have access to culturally appropriate options while actively breaking down historical and systemic barriers to food access.
Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Public Health, Anthropology, Sustainable Agriculture, or a related field preferred; an equivalent combination of education and deeply rooted community experience will be highly valued.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in food systems, public health, community nutrition, social services, or community advocacy.
- Bilingual or multilingual fluency is highly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and access to reliable transportation to travel within the multi-county CVOEO service area.
- Ability to uphold safety standards.
