About the Role
Join our team at Iowa Cannabis Company, a leader in the cannabis industry, as a Cultivation Technician in our state-of-the-art cannabis production facility. We are committed to innovation and excellence in the extraction process, providing high-quality medical cannabis products to patients across Iowa. This is a full-time position with a weekly schedule of 30-40 hours, with the potential to earn up to 10 overtime hours per week based on production demands.
Responsibilities
- Participate in all phases of the cultivation process, from clones to harvest.
- Perform daily room maintenance checks to ensure all equipment is operating correctly.
- Conduct daily plant health checks and record plant health through growth cycles.
- Identify, record, and track daily data logs using FloEnvy and Growlink Software.
- Spot and report pests, poor plant health, nutrient deficiencies, and toxicities.
- Monitor and report environmental conditions.
- Perform plant work in accordance with the production schedule, including trellising, topping, pruning, and transplanting.
- Maintain a clean and sterile working environment, including deep cleaning and disinfection tasks.
- Harvest plants at the end of their growth cycle and package cannabis flower, concentrates, and vape products for sale.
- Perform irrigation line maintenance and hand watering according to company SOPs.
- Mix and apply soil drenches, foliar sprays, and nutrients, measuring EC and pH of nutrient solutions.
- Release beneficial/predatory insects and apply trellis netting.
- Train and manipulate branches to achieve a uniform canopy.
- Take cuttings from mother plants, stick cuttings into grow medium, and prepare grow media for clones/transplants.
- Prune mother plants according to cultivar and cloning needs.
- Follow strict biosecurity protocols and maintain sanitation of tools and person.
- Scout for and report pests and pathogens.
- Affix tags/labels to plants and packages.
- Ensure all cultivation associates follow company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Perform other duties as assigned, including janitorial tasks.
Working Conditions
- Work indoors and outdoors during all seasons, 365 days a year.
- Shifts typically occur between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., with occasional responsibilities outside typical shifts.
- Exposure to warm cultivation lights (rooms average 75+ degrees) and fast-paced environment.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, hearing protection, and safety glasses.
- Exposure to strong odors, varying temperatures, potential allergens (pollen/plant materials), and chemicals/pesticides.
- Work in confined spaces, low-oxygen areas, and around caustic/harmful chemicals.
- Noise levels may be loud due to equipment or machinery operations.
- Strict security measures, including video surveillance and restricted access.
- Regular cleaning and sanitization of the work area required.
- Job duties may involve sedentary activities, active standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and carrying heavy materials.
- Frequent standing, squatting, and bending with arms extended for long periods.
Requirements
- High school diploma or college degree.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and data recording for grow operations.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and compliant with all regulatory requirements for working in the cannabis industry.
- Must internalize training and follow instructions consistently.
- Must be able to regularly lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 200 pounds with assistance.
- Must be able to stand for up to eight hours per day and perform duties involving frequent bending, reaching, and carrying heavy materials.
- Must be able to ascend/descend a ladder and move about the production facility to access products.
- Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute and proficiently operate computers, tablets, and productivity machinery.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with vendors, customers, and coworkers.
- Must be able to observe details at close range and prepare, place, and position products accurately.
- Must reliably arrive at work on time for scheduled shifts.
