Culinary Specialist

Ingram Marine Group is seeking cooks to prepare nutritious, well-balanced meals for vessel crews while maintaining a clean, safe, and professional galley environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve three satisfying, nutritious, and well-balanced meals daily for a crew of 8–10
• Maintain galley, dining room, and associated equipment in a sanitary condition
• Work safely and efficiently following Ingram’s safety standards
• Provide adequate food for meals and snacks
• Practice good inventory and ordering procedures
• Prepare meals and store foods in compliance with sanitary food-handling practices
• Promote a positive and professional atmosphere in the galley

Requirements

• Possess a valid Driver’s License
• Possess or be willing to obtain a ServSafe certification
• Must be able to obtain required Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card by time of interview
• Pass a post-offer background check, drug screen, and physical if an offer is made
• Previous culinary or dietary work experience
• Able to lift and carry items up to 40 pounds
• Able to climb ladders and board/ride a skiff to reach assigned vessel
• Sufficient reasoning and mathematical abilities
• Able to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form
• Adequate computer skills to utilize email, vendor ordering, and other programs
• Able to read and write English to comply with USCG regulatory requirements
• Demonstrate the Ingram Way and uphold high safety standards
• Ability to work away from home for extended periods (21- or 28-day hitches)
• Avoid heavy repetition of meals; prepare a variety of dishes
• Demonstrate teamwork and acceptance of diversity
• Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance
• Respond quickly in unexpected circumstances
• Demonstrate critical thinking and decision-making skills
• Strong communication skills with all levels within the organization
