About the role

The Culinary Cook prepares high-quality, nutritionally adequate meals that meet the preferences and dietary needs of residents in a senior living community. This role ensures a safe, sanitary, and welcoming dining environment while collaborating with the culinary team to deliver exceptional dining experiences.

Responsibilities

• Prepare palatable, attractive, and nutritionally balanced meals in batches, ensuring proper temperature control.
• Taste all food before serving to ensure quality and palatability.
• Cover hot plates and place under heat lamps for delivery; cover and store cold plates in designated areas to maintain proper serving temperatures.
• Plan menus and prepare seasonally inspired meals, including special dietary requirements.
• Monitor and record food temperatures at each meal.
• Frequently taste and adjust food for proper appearance, flavor, smell, and consistency.
• Plan Chef’s Choice items daily, verifying selections with the Culinary Director as requested.
• Supervise servers in food preparation, cleaning, and storage of supplies and equipment.
• Oversee servers to complete resident checklists and ensure residents’ needs are met.
• Assist in receiving and storing deliveries from vendors.
• Maintain a clean food service work area during food preparation and service.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of all ServSafe educational requirements.
• Excellent organizational, time-management, and computer skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
