About the role
The Culinary Assistant works collaboratively within the Food Bank’s Culinary Department to support daily food preparation, cooking, packaging, and kitchen operations. This role assists with multiple culinary programs, events, and volunteer activities while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized Culinary Center in compliance with all health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily food preparation, cooking, and packaging for Culinary Programs.
- Seal and package prepared meals for freezing and distribution.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the commercial kitchen, demonstration kitchen, and supporting facilities.
- Auxiliary inventory management, including organization of coolers, freezers, and dry storage.
- Follow Tulsa County Health Department codes and internal food safety and tracking procedures.
- Assist with cooking and plating food for Culinary Center programs and special events.
- Support culinary volunteer staffing, including assisting with volunteer shifts as needed.
- Auxiliary daily opening and closing kitchen tasks.
- Auxiliary dishwashing, trash removal, recycling, and breakdown of boxes.
- Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of kitchen equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Sous Chef, Director of Culinary Services, or Chief Culinary Officer.
Requirements
- Excellent attendance and punctuality
- Maintain Great Hygiene
- Culinary training or equivalent work experience
- Current Food Handler’s Permit issued by the Tulsa County Health Department
- Attention to detail
- Clean driving record checked through DMV
- Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize
- Ability to work on multiple tasks and/or projects
- Ability to work collaboratively or independently and be a team player
- Ability to work with diverse groups of people
- Must be available to work morning shifts, evenings and weekends

Compensation
$18.50 per hour
