About the Role
A culinary assistant prepares and serves food in accordance with safety, nutritional, and departmental standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist in food preparation using standardized recipes and planned menus.
- Serve and portion food per patient diet orders, ensuring proper temperature and presentation.
- Manage food receiving, storage, and inventory to prevent waste and ensure availability.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment following infection-control protocols.
- Operate dishwashing equipment and maintain kitchen safety standards.
- Use menu-management software to update patient information and generate tray tickets.
- Handle cash register operations, process transactions accurately, and maintain security.
- Adhere to confidentiality, dress code, and professional standards.
- Participate in training, quality improvement, and compliance activities.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent; food handler certification may be required.
- At least 1 year of food service experience, preferably in healthcare or similar setting.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets, safe food handling, and relevant food codes.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn menu-management systems.
- Effective communication skills in English and good attendance.
- Ability to perform duties respecting lifespan growth principles and safety standards.
