Otterbein is seeking a talented Culinary Aide / Wait Staff to join our team at our vibrant, not-for-profit retirement community. Culinary Aides assist in the preparation and serving of quality food to residents, guests, and employees under sanitary conditions. Responsibilities

  • Provide great customer service at all times to residents, partners, and guests with a smile.
  • Maintain good attendance.
  • Take ownership of nursing neighborhoods while working in them.
  • Collaborate with the nursing department to serve residents.
  • Prepare and set up all menu items according to standards.
  • Accurately service hot and cold food items, condiments, and utensils onto trays on a moving tray line according to tray tickets and menu spreadsheets.
  • Restock cafeteria and other areas with food and supplies in a courteous, timely manner.
  • Serve meals to residents in a courteous, timely manner.
  • Scrape dirty trays and dishes and load/unload the dish machine.
  • Hand wash pots, pans, and other designated items.
  • Maintain kitchen facilities in a sanitary manner, including floors, walls, equipment, and utensils.
  • Safely handle a variety of chemicals and educate employees about their use.
  • Assist in the kitchen as needed.
  • Ensure a clean and safe environment is maintained.
  • Communicate and cooperate with dietary personnel and other departments.
  • Maintain resident rights and confidentiality.
  • Interact positively with residents, family members, personnel, and visitors under various conditions.
  • Follow Universal precautions and Infection Control techniques.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • 0–2 years of experience in food service within a Long Term Care environment preferred.
