About the role

Plans and provides appropriate classroom learning experiences for students enrolled in the Drafting pathway courses, including Drafting-Architectural and/or Drafting-Engineering courses. Creates an atmosphere conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students to ensure success for every student. Supervises students in various school-related settings, monitors and evaluates student outcomes, and communicates with students, parents, staff, and the community.

Responsibilities

• Serves as an Adviser/co-Adviser for the pathway-aligned Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO).
• Utilizes assessment strategies (traditional and alternative) aligned with the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) curriculum and standards to support student development.
• Ensures effective communication with students, parents, and stakeholders.
• Engages in continuous professional development for self, school, and the district.
• Uses techniques and strategies that promote critical and creative thinking in students.
• Implements instructional strategies and materials that reflect students' cultures, learning styles, special needs, and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Establishes a classroom management system that fosters a positive learning environment, active engagement, and self-motivation.
• Plans, aligns, implements, and evaluates effective instruction and assessment in various learning environments.
• Collaborates with peers, parents, community members, and stakeholders to improve classroom educational experiences.
• Integrates appropriate technology into teaching and learning processes.
• Ensures adherence to safety procedures.
• Performs other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Apps.
• Knowledge of curriculum development, policies, and effective classroom instructional practices.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Strategic problem-solving skills using multiple data points.
• Ability to prepare course objectives and outlines following state and school guidelines.
• Ability to provide instruction reflecting multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
• Ability to infuse technology into the curriculum.
• Ability to monitor student safety, particularly during inclusive activities.
• Ability to motivate and inspire students.
• Ability to maintain a clean, orderly, and disciplined instructional environment.
• Ability to maintain files, records, and clear communication in oral and written form.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, external agencies, vendors, and the community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent AND six years of related work experience; OR
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD), Architectural Drafting, Engineering Drafting, or related field AND two years of related work experience; OR
• Associate’s degree AND four years of related work experience.
• Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in the teaching content area per NCDPI CTE manual.

Schedule

Monday–Friday (occasional evenings and weekends).

Work Environment

Classroom environment requiring sitting and standing throughout the day. Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. Light physical work, requiring exertion of up to 25 pounds. Direct contact with staff, students, parents, external agencies, and the community may be required.
