CTE Engineering Teacher, 9-12

Start Date: 2026/2027 school year. Ohio residency preferred; applicants from Michigan, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, or Indiana within 100 miles of the Ohio border will be considered. Must meet travel requirements and be willing to obtain Ohio Certification.

About the Role

The High School CTE Engineering Teacher is a highly qualified, state-certified educator responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. Teachers provide instruction, support, and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students’ individual needs. This position is remote with occasional travel required for professional development, student testing, and other school functions.

Responsibilities

• Takes ownership of students’ academic progress and attendance, communicating high expectations and showing active interest in student achievement.
• Prepares students for high-stakes standardized tests.
• Conducts live synchronous teaching (minimum 15 hours per week).
• Asynchronously supports objectives, including composing/sending emails, planning course objectives, preparing learning plans, and using data to determine student needs.
• Collaborates with others on instruction, resources, interventions, and data related to student needs, as well as teacher professional development.
• Augments course content under guidance from the school administrative team using appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools.
• Submits grades and required student work, ensuring academic honesty and integrity; maintains grade book.
• Makes placement and promotion decisions by generating reports on student progress and alerting administrators to concerns.
• Establishes and maintains positive rapport with families; communicates regularly with students and learning coaches/parents.
• Supports learning coaches/parents with curricular and instructional issues in a virtual classroom environment.
• Assists students and learning coaches with basic computer questions when requested.
• Works collaboratively with other teachers to ensure student success and a central point of contact for parents.
• Responds to students, parents, and colleagues in a timely manner.
• Organizes social and educational activities for students and families, including virtual clubs, outings, or other extracurricular activities.
• Travels to testing sites to proctor state exams.
• Complies with all school policies, procedures, and laws related to the position.
• Builds community and participates in onboarding efforts or committees as required.

Requirements

• Active CTE state teaching certification or active high school grade-level state teaching certification with CTE Validation.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Six (6) months of student teaching experience.
• Meets requirements for Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) in subject area under No Child Left Behind (NCLB).
• Ability to clear a required background check.
• Ohio resident preferred; applicants from bordering states (MI, PA, WV, KY, IN) within 100 miles of Ohio will be considered.
• Willingness and ability to obtain Ohio Certification.

• Ability to travel as required (on average once per month or approximately 30% of the time).
• Access to reliable high-speed internet.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
• Ability to maintain teacher certification, professional development hours, and fluency in technology systems, programs, and curriculum.
• Experience working with the proposed age group (grades 9–12).
• Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology.
• Experience working in a virtual environment.
• Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or brick-and-mortar environment.
• Experience with Canvas or other online learning platforms.

Work Environment

The position is remote with some required travel for professional development and testing. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week, in a professional home office without distraction during work hours (typically 9–5 or 8–4). The noise level in the home office is usually moderate (computers, printers, light foot traffic, household appliances, and distractions). The noise level at meeting locations is typically moderate and similar to the home office environment.
