Responsibilities
- Develops and administers secondary school curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials; translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize available time for instruction.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, modifies instructional methods to fit individual student needs (including students with special needs), and provides individual and small group instruction as needed.
- Instructs students in principles of responsible citizenship and other subjects specified in applicable laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Acquires professional knowledge and stays current with developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
- Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting of student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures and laws.
- Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Ensures student conduct conforms to school standards and district policies; maintains standards of behavior for a functional learning atmosphere.
- Collaborates with other secondary professional staff (especially within grade level) to evaluate and assess curriculum; participates in faculty meetings and committees.
- Selects and requisitions books, instructional aids, supplies, and equipment; maintains inventory records.
- Administers standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
- Manages and maintains classroom, greenhouse, and lab spaces with an emphasis on student safety.
- Coordinates and leads a student chapter of FFA.
Requirements

Skills
- Knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy, and differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
- Knowledge of secondary school curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work effectively.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
