About the role

Provides instruction in selected areas of Computer Science, ensuring students gain appropriate knowledge and skills about the industry and prepare for a career and post-secondary opportunities.

Essential Duties

  • Provides content-related and appropriate instruction based on state and local curriculum through a combination of classroom, laboratory, and co-curricular experiences
  • Provides community-based instruction and projects based on program guidelines and requirements
  • Establishes a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) like FBLA, SkillsUSA or TSA as a co-curricular instructional tool within the classroom
  • Manages and maintains program facilities and equipment
  • Adheres to all state guidelines required for the implementation of a successful program
  • Promotes active learning in subject area by managing a classroom environment
  • Communicates responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, school and county leadership
  • Accounts for student attendance and punctuality
  • Fulfills all county, state, and federal policies and procedures
  • Follows professional ethics in all work-related activities
  • Attends school and District-level professional learning activities as directed
  • Seeks and maintains professional learning opportunities through State endorsed professional organizations
  • Facilitates home-school communication by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications
  • Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction
  • Avoids behaviors which detract from staff morale
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited institution accepted by GaPSC
  • Must hold a GaPSC certification in Computer Science FLD [789] or FLD [882], or attain a passing score on the GACE Computer Science assessment, and meet the requirements for induction at GaPSC 505-2-.04; INDUCTION CERTIFICATE

Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in the field of Special Needs required

  • Proven communication and instructional strategies
