About the role

CT Technologists at MUSC play a critical role in capturing detailed cross-sectional images using cutting-edge CT technology, including networked CT units, dedicated protocol support, and the only photon counting CT in South Carolina. As a CT technologist at MUSC, you will aid in diagnosing and monitoring various medical conditions, collaborating closely with other care teams to ensure high-quality patient care in a dynamic medical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize all CT imaging resources to perform high-quality CT examinations.
  • Provide CT imaging services for patients across all age groups, from neonates to geriatrics.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient imaging for physician interpretation.
  • Maintain image quality standards and follow established CT protocols.
  • Deliver compassionate patient care while ensuring patient safety during examinations.
  • Operate CT equipment safely and effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and healthcare teams to support patient diagnosis and treatment.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
  • 0 to 2 years of modality-specific work experience, with at least 1 year of X-Ray experience.

Qualifications

  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R).
  • ARRT CT Registration must be obtained within 1 year in this position.
  • Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, either from the American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Pay

  • $10,000 sign-on bonus.
  • Up to $5,000 relocation assistance for eligible candidates.
  • Shift differentials up to $5.30 per hour, depending on shift.
  • Additional pay for call pay, overtime, etc.

Schedule

  • Weekend Nights (Friday–Sunday), 7:00 PM–7:30 AM.
  • Participation in the on-call rotation required approximately once every three months.
  • Rotating holiday schedule.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, or walking (continuous).
  • Ability to climb stairs (infrequent).
  • Ability to work indoors (continuous) and outdoors in temperature extremes (infrequent).
  • Ability to work from elevated areas, in confined/cramped spaces, and to bend, twist, squat, and kneel (frequent/infrequent as noted).
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs unassisted (infrequent); lift/lower objects 50 lbs from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted (infrequent); lift from 36” to overhead 25 lbs (infrequent).
  • Ability to exert up to 50 lbs of force (frequent).
  • Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes; see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance; match or discriminate between colors; determine distance/relationship between objects; maintain good peripheral vision; maintain hearing acuity, with correction.
  • Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements; deal effectively with stressful situations; work rotating shifts and overtime as required; work in a latex-safe environment; maintain tactile sensory functions.
  • Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required (continuous for selected positions).
