Job Responsibilities
- Schedules patients and prioritizes exams based on clinical needs.
- Reviews and verifies orders before beginning exams.
- Reviews the patient’s EMR for safety concerns that could alter the quality of the exam or affect patient care.
- Prepares patient and room for exams, explains procedure, transfers patient using proper lifting and transfer techniques, positions patient and assists patient as needed during the exam.
- Performs clinical evaluation of all patients and performs exams specifically as stated in the physician’s order.
- Observes patient and equipment during procedures and reports any unusual occurrences in relation to patient condition to the Imaging Supervisor.
- Delivers all images to PACS and the Radiologist and ensures receipt of exam dictation.
- Completes all daily tasks for optimal departmental operation.
- Reports departmental concerns to the Imaging Manager.
- Attends department staff meetings during scheduled hours.
- Manages inventory of supplies.
- Maintains all center-wide requirements such as yearly ARW’s, BLS, up to date certification status with the ACR and other requirements that may be mandatory in the XRAY and CT departments.
- Provides support to Managers and Lead Techs to ensure exams are completed in compliance with ACR criteria.
Required Minimum Education
- Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology (or equivalent) program.
Required Minimum Certification
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
- Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
- Must be a Registered CT Technologist.
