Responsibilities
- Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
- Educates patients about the exam and completes exams in a timely manner, maintaining workflow and minimizing empty table time.
- Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.
- Knowledgeable in CT procedures, CT scanners, and new technologies.
- Communicates effectively and works with people of various diverse backgrounds.
- Adapts to new technology and follows departmental policies and procedures.
- Ensures accurate and timely documentation, maintains patient safety, and adheres to radiation safety concepts.
- Provides care addressing the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-appropriate needs of the patient population served within the department.
Requirements
- Associate degree preferred, Bachelor's degree preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a CT training program preferred.
- Registered Technologist – Radiography (RT(R) (ARRT)) license required.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Computed Tomography (ARRT-CT) certification preferred.
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) required.
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of various diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of CT procedures and CT scanners.
- Knowledge of CT safety including radiation protection.
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures.
- Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding.
- Knowledge of patient positioning and equipment operations, including x-ray machines and printers.
- Up-to-date knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, cardiac & vascular skills, 3D workstation skills, IV placement skills, and general physics and anatomy.
- Fluent in the English language.
- Experience/knowledge of computers/networking.
