Key Responsibilities
- Evaluates and implements appropriate care under the direction of the Radiologist and AZDHS.
- Administers ionizing radiation for diagnosis, positioning the x-ray beam, anatomically positioning the patient, selecting exposure factors, and initiating exposure.
- Selects the most appropriate patient care plan based on reviewing all pertinent data and assessing the patient's abilities and condition.
- Selects appropriate shielding devices and immobilization devices.
- Evaluates lab values before administering contrast media and assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure.
- Verifies patient identification using two unique identifiers (Name and DOB) and confirms the procedure requested.
- Able to recognize significant clinical information and historical facts impacting the examination.
- Maintains patient and equipment during procedures, accurately documenting exam times, patient reactions or problems, and reporting concerns immediately to the supervisor.
- Documents patient and exam occurrences in the appropriate Imaging software database.
Quality of Care
- Provides evidence-based care to prevent Healthcare Acquired Conditions and hospital readmissions.
- P Practices standard precautions during patient contact and handling contaminated materials.
- Complies with CDC hand hygiene guidelines and reduces hospital acquired infections and other conditions.
- Complies with all regulatory, organizational, and departmental statutes, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) Program.
- BLS through American Heart Association or American Red Cross CT certification through ARRT or within 9 months of hire.
- Licensure: Current CT registration and licensure by the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) and current registration and licensure by the ARRT.
Preferences
- Education: Preferred from an educational institution approved by ARRT, JCERT, or ACR.
Special Position Requirements
- Exposure Category I: Routine potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. Other potential hazards: exposure to chemical, biological, and radioactive substances; possible exposure to hostile individuals.
