Essential Job Duties
- Performs routine radiographic procedures and special computerized tomography procedures consistent with established quality standards and the need of the patient.
- Conducts daily quality assurance testing on CT unit and emergency equipment and maintains appropriate records as required by department procedure.
- Communicates with the supervisor to report problems related to equipment, staffing, and productivity and provides recommendations.
- Collects pertinent clinical data before diagnostic examinations, supervises patient preparation, and documents significant data.
- Applies appropriate patient prioritization in workflow.
- Maintains efficient patient flow through scanner area through effective scheduling and responsibility assignment.
- Ensures appropriate storage and routing of supplies in the CT area; monitors supplies and reports shortages as needed.
- Keeps a daily activities log and procedures manual, complies data, and issues monthly reports as required.
- Participates in orientation, on-the-job training, and in-service activities as requested; demonstrates CT equipment and procedures as needed.
- Aids the physician in performing interventional CT procedures and assists in emergency situations and adverse contrast reactions.
- Assists in the orientation of new personnel and development of in-services and cross-training programs consistent with performance objectives and training needs of employees.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Successful completion of a two-year radiological technology program in an AMA-approved educational institution.
- Current State of Maryland licensure.
- Current certification in radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Current CPR certification.
- ARRT Computed Tomography (CT) certification.
Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands
- Exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
- Heavy work: exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Pay Range
$45.32—$60 USD
