Rhode Island Medical Imaging is currently offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus!* This position requires flexibility and floating to other locations as needed.

About the Role

The CT Technologist will perform and ensure appropriate quality control, provide high diagnostic quality images based on case specifics, and interact professionally with patients, referring physicians, and colleagues while maintaining optimal patient flow and throughput. Additional tasks include assisting patients, managing supplies, maintaining clean work areas, and performing routine clerical functions as required.

Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM

Responsibilities

  • Perform technologist duties at assigned times and locations.
  • Conduct required quality control procedures and ensure proper equipment operation.
  • Maintain knowledge of radiation protection, safety, and current scanning protocols.
  • Coordinate with reception to ensure efficient patient flow.
  • Greet patients, obtain medical history, and provide procedure instructions.
  • Ensure proper radiation protection using lead shields.
  • Assist radiologists as required.
  • Operate equipment according to established procedures and review images for diagnostic quality.
  • Report equipment operation concerns immediately.
  • Provide high-quality studies and communicate with radiologists and referring physicians.
  • Assess contraindications to procedures, including patient history, medications, and lab values.
  • Evaluate patient risk factors for contrast media, including allergic reactions and renal insufficiency.
  • Perform venipuncture, verify IV patency, and maintain IV access.
  • Utilize accessory equipment such as power injectors, colon insufflators, and AEDs.
  • Perform QA/QC for CT-related equipment in accordance with RIMI and ACR guidelines.
  • Handle patients courteously and professionally, evaluating their ability to tolerate exams.
  • Ensure accurate completion of images, requisitions, and related records with correct patient information.
  • Order necessary supplies to maintain efficient unit operation.
  • Assist with additional tasks during downtime, such as patient registration and scheduling.
  • Maintain records of equipment repairs.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and refrain from disclosing diagnosis or exam outcomes.
  • Maintain cleanliness of office and clinical areas.
  • Assist other technologists as needed and cross-train in other modalities.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills to perform exams as outlined by governing bodies and RIMI protocol.
  • Physical dexterity and strength to position patients and operate CT and related equipment.
  • Ability to determine appropriate study methods based on case specifics.
  • High accuracy in positioning and exposure technique.
  • Ability to identify and manage emergency situations.
  • Knowledge and skills to provide proper patient care.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma plus 2 years of training at an approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • ARRT registration and certification in CT.
  • Licensed technologist through the State of Rhode Island.
  • National & State IV Certification required.
  • Additional training in cross-sectional anatomy, injection procedures, contrast media, and reactions.
  • Maintain required accreditation/certification for State, Federal, and RIMI standards.
  • Submit yearly CME reports to management.

Physical Demands

  • Intermittent walking and standing throughout the day.
  • Lift/position patients and supplies up to 50 pounds.
  • Move patients from scanner tables and transport via wheelchairs/stretchers.
  • Crouch, reach, and lift to manipulate and position ancillary equipment.
  • Exposure to high magnetic fields; no physical conditions aggravated by magnetic fields, acoustic noise, or RF exposure.
  • Ability to work in Zone 3 and Zone 4.
