CT Technologist

About the role

As a CT Technologist at Legacy Silverton Medical Center, you will perform imaging procedures according to physician’s orders, utilizing your knowledge and judgment regarding exposure factors, imaging technique, and patient treatment. Legacy Silverton serves the heart of the Willamette Valley with a wide range of services, including CT scan, nuclear medicine, echocardiography, and a family birth center.

Responsibilities

• Imaging:
  • Provides quality images with accuracy and efficiency, using optimal skills and knowledge of all equipment.
  • Positions patients for diagnostic imaging according to department procedures, training, and machine requirements.
  • Operates imaging equipment, sets exposure factors, and adjusts techniques to ensure accurate and high-quality images with minimal repeat rates.
  • Uses computer image processing to select and optimize images.
  • Processes and presents images and related patient information to the radiologist for diagnosis.
  • Assists with patient transport using standard procedures.
• Documentation:
  • Gathers complete documentation of pertinent information to provide accurate and timely service.
  • Identifies patients by checking I.D., full name, and medical record number.
  • Reviews patient charts and orders to ensure the correct examination is performed.
  • Labels images with demographic, positional, and other required documentation.
  • Logs activities, gathers charging information, and charges exams as required.
  • Performs quality control and quality assurance, records results, and reports equipment variances.
  • Performs medication reconciliation for patients receiving IV contrast media.
• Personal & Patient Care and Safety:
  • Ensures personal and patient safety using professional judgment in accordance with written standards.
  • Protects patients and others by using proper machine settings and radiation safety standards.
  • Practices universal precautions and sterile techniques according to procedures.
  • Communicates knowledge of anatomy and physiology to provide appropriate care across all patient age groups.
  • Maintains awareness of patient status and takes appropriate actions to meet their needs.
  • Starts IVs using proper technique and administers medications under the direction of a licensed independent practitioner (LIP).

Requirements

• National registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiology (ARRT-R) or Nuclear Medicine (ARRT-N) required.
• CT certification (ARRT-CT) required within six months of job placement.
• Current state license in Radiography or Nuclear Medicine required for employees working in Oregon.
• AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
• One year of previous experience in CT preferred.
• Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.

Qualifications

Education: As required to obtain ARRT certification.

Pay

USD $44.17 - USD $63.16 per hour.
