Requirements

• 1 year of acute‑care hospital CT experience
• ARRT‑CT (Computed Tomography) certification
• ARRT‑R (Radiography) certification

Certification / License / Registration

• Graduate of an accredited radiologic program
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in Computed Tomography (CT)
• ARRT certification in Radiography (R) or Nuclear Medicine (N); Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (CNMT) also accepted
• Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 30 days of hire/transfer

Job Summary

The CT Technologist, supervised by a Radiologist, performs CT procedures on patients. A physician or licensed provider requests these procedures to diagnose disease and injury. The technologist follows established protocols.

Essential Functions

• Perform high‑quality CT procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.
• Maintain production and quality by following established standards and procedures.
• Demonstrate knowledge of radiation dose reference levels; take action if estimated dose exceeds set reference levels.
• Use iSTAT point‑of‑care testing for obtaining creatinine levels.
• Utilize AIDET to communicate with patients, identify service needs, and ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient.
• Establish rapport, instruct, and communicate with patients and families about the test; assess patient tolerance.
• Prepare patient and area, position patient, adjust immobilization devices, and set exposure factors.
• Protect patients and employees by following safety, infection‑control, drug, and radiation policies; use proper sterile techniques for invasive procedures and maintain hand hygiene.
• Maintain equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards; collaborate with engineers and physicists for optimal operation.
• Report equipment or safety issues to management or the appropriate department.
• Assist in maintaining supplies inventory and screen entrants per approved policies.
• Obtain, verify, and maintain all relevant documentation (requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, shielding precautions, consent forms, policies, procedures).
• Maintain medical imaging records in the appropriate system according to department policies and standards.

• Serve as a preceptor, providing quality training to new team members and on new services.
• Take call as required.
