CT Tech – Part Time

Responsibilities

• Performs quality and efficient diagnostic radiographic examinations to provide a source of information for interpretation by radiologists and viewing for referring physicians. Ensures images are correctly allocated in the PACS system.
• Verifies physicians’ orders on requisitions 100% of the time.
• Operates Radiographic equipment to ensure proper technical results, conducting daily inspections and reporting malfunctions to the supervisor.
• Prepares examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and adequate supplies, and replaces used supplies immediately after patient dismissal 95% of the time.
• Performs quality and compassionate patient care, thoroughly explaining procedures to ensure patient physical and emotional comfort, with no more than two documented errors per year.
• Performs record-keeping functions, including scheduling and accurate completion of exams, to ensure proper billing and efficient operations.
• Participates in teaching and learning opportunities to expand personal knowledge and assist others, including being receptive to teaching technologists and student technologists.
• Operates CT scanners and related medical equipment to produce diagnostic and treatment images safely and efficiently, with no more than four variances per review period due to technologist error.
• Uses technical skills to operate CT equipment and software, including scan, display, and management functions, independently and efficiently.
• Chaperones patients when necessary.

Requirements

• Graduation from an A.M.A.-approved radiologic technology program and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.
• Connecticut State License.
• ARRT certification and demonstrated technical skills to meet entry-level standards of routine radiography.
• Six months to one year of Computed Tomography (CT) experience.
• ARRT (CT) certification preferred.
• CPR certification.

Skills

• Demonstrated skills in the use of Diagnostic Imaging equipment, image processing, and image allocation.
• Knowledge of Radiography exam codes and Radiology information systems, including scheduling, editing, and completion functions.
• Good communication, patient care, and technical skills.
• Ability to set up and operate CT scanning equipment and utilize scan/manage/display software programs.
• Familiarity with routine examination protocols and basic cross-sectional anatomy.
• Willingness to learn and assist in medical dosimetry.
• Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
