Essential Duties & Functions
- Performs CT procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols and evaluates CT studies for technical image quality.
- Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the CT procedure.
- Implements screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed CT policies / procedures.
- Performs daily and weekly QC as required.
- Prepares and administers contrast media to the patient according to policy. Practices sterile techniques.
- Affords assistance to Radiologist in special procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations.
- Collaborates with other areas to optimize patient time and satisfaction.
- Assesses learning needs and educates patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs.
- Thoroughly educates patients about exam.
- Ensures that all records, files and reports are properly recorded as required, performs clerical duties when necessary, verifies a signed physician order is received and corresponds with the billed procedure.
- Maintains knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit.
- Follows radiation safety policies and procedures.
Education
- Minimum Level of Education Required: Associate degree
- Additional Requirements: Type of degree: Allied Health; Area of study or major: Radiologic Technology
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- CPR Certification required within 30 days of hire
- ARRT RT (R) registry required
- CT registry preferred
- ODH licensure required
Experience
- Minimum Level of Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience
- Preferred experience: One year experience or additional training in specialized field of CT
Knowledge/Skills
- Cross-sectional anatomy
- Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Proficient in Radiology Information System (RIS) and Image Storage
- Advanced CT computer applications
- Radiation safety
