About the Role

Performs computerized tomography (CT) and radiographic (X-Ray) imaging procedures under the general supervision of a licensed practitioner for diagnosis and treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders. This role operates at a technical level not requiring constant supervision and within the scope of licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine CT and radiology procedures, demonstrating anatomy through proper patient positioning, technique selection, contrast media administration, and application of immobilization and radiation protection devices per department policies.
  • Reviews consultation requests for special instructions from the referring physician and consults with radiologists as needed.
  • Greets patients, confirms identification, introduces self, verifies procedure site and physician orders, and explains the examination process to patients and families.
  • Updates patient history, completes screening and consent forms, and documents unusual conditions or limitations on requests.
  • Records examination time, room number, technical factors, and enters data into hospital information systems; ensures facility and patient identification are imprinted on film or digital images.
  • Assists in interventional procedures, practicing sterile and infection control techniques.
  • Posts procedure charges accurately and promptly into hospital information systems per department policies.
  • Imports patient data and examination images onto media storage disks; maintains imaging media storage archives and daily procedure logs.
  • Performs visual preventative safety inspections, completes CT and radiographic system warm-up procedures, records quality control activities, and reports equipment malfunctions or dangerous conditions.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies for assigned workstations, rotates stock, eliminates outdated items, and keeps the work area clean and prepared.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in radiologic technology.
  • Associate’s degree from an approved Radiologic Technology program.
  • IEMA License.
  • CPR certification.
  • AART registration or eligibility.
  • ACR CT Certification preferred.
