About the role
The CSUS literacy support interventionist will provide small group instruction to 6th and 7th grade students during WIN blocks, push-in to general education classrooms, and co-plan lessons with general education teachers as needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide small group instruction to 6th and 7th grade students during WIN blocks
- Push-in to general education classrooms
- Co-plan lessons with general education teachers as needed
- Focus on explicit vocabulary instruction
- Reinforce reading comprehension from Tier 1 texts
- Support with writing skills and tasks
Requirements
- Literacy intervention experience in the upper school grades (6-8) with a proven track record of promoting high achievement among all learners
- Strong knowledge of MA Curriculum Framework for ELA/Literacy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, alongside the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a diverse staff and student body
- Bachelor’s degree required; Masters in Education strongly preferred
- Massachusetts Teacher Certification/Licensure in Middle School 5-9, English 5-12, Reading Specialist (all levels), or Moderate Disabilities (preK-8) required
- A strong work ethic, alongside a commitment to doing whatever it takes for students to excel
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include:
- Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree
- Masters in Education is preferred
- Massachusetts Teacher Certification/Licensure in Middle School 5-9, English 5-12, Reading Specialist (all levels), or Moderate Disabilities (preK-8) is required
