CSS Technician
Highlights
The Central Sterile Services Technician shall be responsible for decontamination, cleaning, assembling, wrapping, and/or containerizing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment and their subsequent sterilization/sanitizing, through steam, gas, plasmac or other required methods. This position is also responsible for testing and reporting any issues or problems with the sterilization equipment, preparation and delivery of all necessary equipment and instruments for surgeries, examinations, medical procedures, and medical carts.
About the Role
This position involves two separate areas of Central Sterile Services; Decontamination and Processing. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.
Education / Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in medical supply, surgical instruments, and equipment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of communication skills, written and oral.
- Must have organizational, telephone and computer skills.
- Must be able to follow written, oral or electronic instructions.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
- Sitting for 5% of the workday and mobility 90% of the workday.
- Stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching 5%.
- Frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action.
- Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds.
- Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range.
- Minimal noise levels. Much exposure to computer work.
- Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock.
- Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks.
- Some exposure to hazardous chemicals.
- Occasional exposure to radiation.
- Position is subject to heat, wetness, noise vibrations, and atmospheric conditions, including gases, odors and dust.
- Frequent exposure to outdoors.
- Temperature ranges may change dramatically, due to different departments involved.
