About the role

Responsible for decontamination, assembly of instrument sets, operation of steam and Sterrad, as well as all monitoring processes included with same.

Responsibilities

• Maintain adequate inventory for assembly of instruments and equipment.
• Perform multiple tasks that assist in the daily operation of all units as well as being responsible for customer service.
• Perform and participate in the decontamination and cleaning of all instrumentation received, which include but are not limited to instrumentation and equipment received from all units according to established standards and procedures.
• Prepare case carts and trays for decontamination and load them into washer and/or sterilizer as prescribed procedure.
• Operate index washers, cart washers, ultrasonic cleaners, as well as manually clean instruments and equipment as prescribed by established standards and procedures.
• Inspect all instruments for cleanliness, proper function, and breakage by viewing the instruments before assembly.
• Use appropriate container, wrap, or pouch according to the size of the instrument or equipment.
• Sterilize instruments and surgical trays by following prescribed policies and procedures.
• Run tests on all sterilizers, monitor, and document that all parameters have been met.
• Use chemicals in the appropriate fashion, taking into consideration the intended use of the chemical as well as its function; knowledge of appropriate PPE is also necessary.
• Participate in expediting the OR schedule by assisting other members of the OR Team in obtaining the instruments/equipment necessary for the procedure in a timely manner.
• Assemble and distribute case carts accurately and in a timely manner.

Requirements

• CRCST (Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician) through IAHCSMM or CBSPD required.
• 2 years of CSPD experience are required.
• Must obtain Scope certification CER within 6 months of start.

Qualifications

Preferred: 5 years of CRCST experience in a hospital setting or Same Day Surgery Center.

Pay

$22.73 - $28.67 per hour. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills, and professional experience.
