About the role

We are seeking a Cryptologic Computer Scientist with an active TS/SCI clearance and polygraph to support our Defense and Homeland Security Division in Annapolis Junction, MD. In this hybrid role, you will design, develop, deliver, and operate solutions to complex cryptologic computer science problems within a scientific framework. Responsibilities include forensics and attack attribution, protection of critical networks, active systems monitoring, and knowledge discovery of passive and active systems.

You will apply advanced computer science skills—such as operating systems, compiler theory, database theory, algorithm analysis, computer architecture, discrete math, programming language theory, and data structures—to develop state-of-the-art techniques, tools, and approaches. This position blends computer science with cyber threat analysis, requiring strong Python and Spark skills, as well as experience working with large-scale data.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deliver, and operate solutions to hard cryptologic computer science problems within a scientific framework.
• Apply computer science principles (e.g., operating systems, compiler theory, database theory, algorithm analysis, computer architecture, discrete math, programming language theory, and data structures) to solve complex challenges.
• Develop solutions for forensics, attack attribution, protection of critical networks, active systems warnings and indicators, penetration testing, and knowledge discovery of passive/active systems.
• Leverage Python, Spark, and large-scale data processing techniques to support mission-critical objectives.
• Perform network and protocol analysis, anomaly detection, intrusion analysis, and data processing.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field with at least one programming course and four upper-level math classes (Calculus or above).
• Relevant experience in computer science (theoretical or applied), simulation/model development, algorithm analysis, reverse engineering, or designing/developing computer and information systems.
• Strong Python and Spark skills.
• Background in network and protocol analysis.
• Familiarity with customer tools, dataflow, anomaly detection, intrusion analysis, and data processing (beneficial).

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree plus 4 years of relevant experience, or
• Master’s degree plus 6 years of relevant experience, or
• Bachelor’s degree plus 8 years of relevant experience, or
• Associate’s degree plus 10 years of relevant experience.

Pay

$160,000 – $205,000 per year. Final salary may vary based on geographic location, contract labor categories, prior experience, skills, education, and certifications.
