Crossing Guard

Representative Duties & Responsibilities

• Aid students and pedestrians crossing roadways in designated school zones.
• Regulate vehicle flow to ensure safe crossing opportunities.
• Maintain orderly vehicle movement for school buses entering and exiting campus.
• Interact respectfully with the public, maintaining a calm and courteous demeanor.
• Wear district-approved safety apparel and equipment at all times.
• Remain at designated post for the entire shift unless relieved or instructed otherwise.
• Report concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Use proper hand signals and visual cues for directing traffic safely.
• Show dependability, flexibility, and commitment to the safety mission.
• Exercise sound judgment and discretion when halting traffic for school buses.
• Maintain high levels of attentiveness and vigilance.
• Complete job assignments in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 21 years of age and a citizen of the United States.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
• Valid Georgia Motor Vehicle operator’s license with compatible endorsements.
• Acceptable level of physical and mental fitness.
• Strong communication skills and respectful interaction with children, families, and motorists.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Dependable, flexible, and committed to the safety mission.
