Cross Country/Track & Field Assistant Coach -Temporary

About the role

Union College, a highly selective liberal arts institution located in Schenectady, New York, is seeking a part‑time seasonal Assistant Men’s and Women's Cross Country and Track & Field Coach. The Men’s and Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field Programs compete in NCAA Division III and the Liberty League. Union College sponsors 27 intercollegiate sports, 25 in Division III, with Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey competing at Division I. The position reports to the Head Men’s & Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field Coach.

Responsibilities

• Recruitment: Assist in recruiting and retaining top prospective student‑athletes who are fully engaged in the mission of Union College; collaborate with the head coach and admissions to arrange on‑campus visits; ensure compliance with all recruitment policies and procedures.
• Coaching: Demonstrate effective teaching methods and excellent leadership; travel to meets and competitions on weekends.
• Student‑Athlete Development: Work proactively with campus stakeholders to ensure academic success; mentor student‑athletes.
• Administration: Support aspects designated by the head coach, adhering to NCAA, league, and department compliance; pitch in to assist colleagues as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required, or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and/or work experience.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
• Understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
