Crop Insurance Adjuster Trainee
About the role
ProAg has an exciting opportunity for a Crop Adjuster to join our team in Ohio. The role involves making first contact with policy holders on farms experiencing losses, conducting field inspections, reading maps and aerial photos, measuring fields and storage bins, collecting production records, and assessing damage or loss. The position requires regular fieldwork, including climbing grain bins and traveling to farms within the state of Ohio.
Responsibilities
- Perform fact-finding to determine cause(s) and percentage of loss
- Exercising best independent judgment in handling claims
- Escalate issues or problems that cannot be resolved to the Area Claims Supervisor
- Convey regulations and interpretations of procedures to claimants, agents, and industry people on claim situations
- Effectively communicate our position on developing industry topics such as new specialty crops or expanding coverage programs
- Continuously expand knowledge of RMA rules and regulations and ProAg procedures for applying all MPCI, Crop Hail, and Federal Crop Insurance regulations
Requirements
- High school diploma
- Crop insurance experience in claims or compliance or any ag-related experience and background
- Analytical skills and attention to detail
- Basic computer and internet applications
- Communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Reliable means of transportation and the willingness to travel
- Completion of Claim Adjuster Proficiency Program (CAPP) certification and/or any applicable licenses required by State agencies preferred
Qualifications

Pay
The pay range for this position is $45,100 - $67,000, which includes geographic adjustments, where applicable. The pay range is the range THMCC, in good faith, believes is the range of compensation for this role at the time of this posting. The hired applicant will be offered pay within the entire range based on the candidate’s geographic location, qualifications, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
Schedule
This position will require travel of up to 75%, occasionally even beyond your assigned territory.
