Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing. Graduate of an accredited school of Nurse Anesthesiology with a master’s degree or PhD.
- Licensure: CRNA certification, RN and CRNA specialty nursing license in the state of Michigan or receipt within 6 months of hire.
- BLS/ACLS/PALS certification
- Experience: Prior experience preferred.
What you will do
- Provides quality patient care considering age specific, developmental, and cultural needs through competent anesthesia practice.
- Assembles necessary supplies, drugs and equipment for each case, and tests equipment to ensure proper functioning for surgical procedure.
- Discusses and develops anesthetic plan in collaboration with anesthesiologist.
- Reviews patients’ medical records to determine types of procedures to be performed and evaluate patient’s medical status.
- Establishes or confirms the presence of appropriate intravenous access.
- If trained and credentialed, may insert arterial catheters, perform spinal anesthesia, and IV regional anesthesia.
- Provides emergency airway support as requested throughout the facility.
- Performs supportive life functions, including intratracheal intubation, management of blood, fluid and electrolyte loss, and maintenance of cardiovascular and respiratory functions.
- Identifies and manages emergency situations, including assessment of adequacy of recovery or antagonism of muscle relaxants, narcotics, and other agents; implements appropriate management techniques.
- Carefully documents all activities on the anesthetic record or patients’ medical record.
