Responsibilities

• Performs preoperative evaluation by assessing staff notes, progress notes, lab work, and patient histories to determine the most appropriate anesthetic management.
• Monitors equipment and induces general and/or regional anesthesia using anesthesia procedures and methods.
• Manages the anesthetic procedure by monitoring physical, physiochemical, and biochemical indicators such as blood pressure, heart rate, EKG, blood loss, patient position, pulmonary compliance, arterial blood bases, etc.
• Adjusts anesthesia procedures as required and informs other medical personnel of necessary developments.
• Oversees recovery from anesthesia by observing appropriate indicators in surgery and the post-anesthesia recovery room; performs post-operative evaluation.
• Makes appropriate entries in staff notes, anesthesia records, and patients' charts.

Qualifications

• Certification by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
• Current registered nurse licensure in the state of Utah.
• Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills.
• Completion of an AANA approved curriculum of coursework.
• 24 months of concurrent practicum experience or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education).
• Passing scores on a national exam administered by AANA.
• Bi-annual rectification contingent on continuing professional practice plus 40 hours of continuing education units.
