About the role

As a Critical Utilities Technician III, you perform all prior Utilities and Boiler Operator responsibilities while serving as a subject matter expert in critical utilities. This role leads advanced diagnostics, predictive maintenance, and system optimization activities to ensure the highest level of reliability, safety, and compliance across all GMP utility systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all prior Critical Utilities Technician, Boiler Operator Class 3, Water Treatment Operator II, and Boiler Operator Class 2 responsibilities
  • Lead advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics across steam, water, air, and utility systems
  • Perform shaft alignment on rotating equipment to ensure optimal system performance
  • Utilize thermography to inspect equipment and identify potential failures
  • Conduct vibration analysis to monitor equipment health and predict maintenance needs
  • Support and guide predictive maintenance strategies across utilities systems
  • Manage and track purchase orders for parts, services, and materials to support system reliability
  • Support planning and coordination of maintenance activities and projects
  • Provide technical expertise during system failures, deviations, or investigations
  • Ensure all activities comply with GMP, safety, and environmental standards
  • Support audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Boiler Operator Class 1 license or equivalent certification preferred or required based on regulatory expectations
  • Demonstrated experience with predictive maintenance and advanced diagnostics required
  • 5-7+ years of experience in utilities, boiler operations, or related technical field preferred
  • Experience in regulated pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment preferred
  • High attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Expert knowledge of critical utilities systems (steam, water, air)
  • Proficiency in shaft alignment, thermography, and vibration analysis
  • Strong understanding of predictive maintenance concepts and application
  • Ability to manage purchase orders and support maintenance planning
  • Advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Strong knowledge of GMP and regulatory requirements
  • SAP CMMS proficiency
  • Ability to analyze system performance and implement improvements

Vision Requirements

  • 14/14 Corrected Near-Point
  • Pass Color Deficiency Test

Physical Requirements

GMP manufacturing, utilities, mechanical, and facilities environments. Exposure may include mechanical equipment, utility systems, water treatment systems, steam, heat, noise, chemicals, and environmental conditions associated with facilities work.

Respirator Clearance Required.

Schedule

Weekday Nights – Monday-Wednesday + every other Thursday – 6pm-6am

Pay

Hiring wage: $32.01 – $37.65 + 10% differential, with opportunities for growth, promotion, and annual raises.
