Critical Facility Engineer II

Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems.
- Complete planned and ad-hoc preventive maintenance work assignments requiring the skill and direction of several engineering, mechanical, and maintenance trades.
- Conduct periodic inspections of building systems, i.e., HVAC, electrical distribution, maintain mechanical equipment rooms to ensure clean and safe conditions.
- Rapid response, investigation, and management of indoor emergency situations and air quality complaints.
- Have a complete working knowledge of creating, closing, and tracking "work requests" (WR).
- Initiate or respond to work orders, follow-up and verify completion of work.
- Monitor performance/note deficiencies of service contractors and recommend changes as necessary.
- Support the delivery of data center services including colocation, telecommunications services, and deployment of additional services to customers and internal business systems.
- Act as an operational contact for data center customers, vendors, and carriers as it relates to colocation, connectivity, and network products and services.
- Carry out tasks under the direction of the Network/Engineering Infrastructure Manager and IT Manager necessary to support internal networks, IT infrastructure, computers, electronics, and telephone systems.
- Conduct activities inside IT and telecommunications rooms or cabinets such as the installation of IT and network hardware, making or running patch cables, and verifying or testing cable paths.
- Coordinate and oversee access to and work within the facility with third-party contractors, vendors, and carriers related to structured cabling installation, circuit delivery and equipment installations in IT and telecommunications rooms and customer space.
- Support offsite points-of-presence at remote locations and aids in operations, administration, and maintenance of infrastructure, network equipment, and tasks related to the delivery and support of network services.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of directly related experience in the operation, installation, and maintenance of data center critical equipment, building systems with in-depth technical understanding and knowledge of all HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, and control systems.
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two+ years’ experience in electrical systems, refrigeration and/or HVAC.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including Feeders, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, Chillers, Air handling units, and CRAC units.
- Good observation skills and problem-solving ability.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 40lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders and multiple flights of stairs to access elevated equipment.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time in various work environments.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for equipment related tasks.
- Basic physical fitness to respond quickly to emergency situations and navigate areas quickly.
- Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for working with small components and connectors.
- Clear vision, with or without correction, to perform tasks requiring attention to detail and precision while wearing safety glasses.
- Ability to differentiate between color-coded warning signs, labels, and cables.
- Ability to work in environments with a wide variety temperature inside a facility.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, or snow.
- Capability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing hearing protection.
Work Schedule
Either front half or back half days | 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am
Pay
The base pay range for this role is $97,941.12 – $110,183.76 per year. Final compensation will be determined by job-related factors consistent with applicable law.
